Wahluke School District Now Accepting Highly Capable Referrals for 2026–2027
Wahluke School District is now accepting referrals for the Highly Capable Program for the 2026–2027 school year. Referrals are open to anyone in the district, including parents/guardians, teachers, community members, and students.

Who Can Be Referred?
Highly capable students may demonstrate:
An unusual depth of understanding and ability to transfer learning to new situations
Advanced ability to handle abstraction and complexity earlier than peers
Intense concentration and focus
The ability to learn quickly in areas of intellectual strength
Creative thinking and making unusual connections between ideas
Strong performance on state (SBA), district (i-Ready), and classroom assessments
How to Submit a Referral
Students in grades K, 1, 3–5, and 7–11 may be referred by completing the referral survey:

Important Screening Information
All 2nd and 6th grade students will be automatically screened for Highly Capable services in March 2026 using the NNAT3 assessment.
Students in these grades do not need to be referred.
All testing will take place during the month of March.
