Yesterday was National Education Support Professional Day! and we would like to give a special shoutout and thank all our staff that play an important role in our school buildings and district. A special thank you to all of our secretaries, classroom aides, cafeteria workers, maintenance workers, bus drivers, and all other staff who support educators, school leadership, and students. We are midway through Homecoming! Yesterday was Twin Day, the Junior class assembly and the Tie dye event hosted by the Science department!! Today is class color day, the Sophomore assembly and #MACHOVOLLEYBALL @6pm! Come one, COME ALL and watch the staff play the students.

Manga Maniacs is happening at the C3 Maker Space (WHS Library) This Friday. Thanks to Tiffany from Mattawa Public Library and Angelica Spreen for making this event possible!

Archaeology Days is back! Oct. 25-26 at the Wanapum Heritage Center Archaeology Days is back to mix learning with fun at the Wanapum Heritage Center after a two-year hiatus during the COVID pandemic. Kids have their own day, Oct. 25, for some hands-on, kid-friendly learning about the customs and crafts of native, Columbia Plateau people, as well as area geology, river ecosystems, flora, fauna, hydropower and more. Kids should bring their own lunches and gather 'round the exhibits from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Adults have a day of their own, Oct. 26, which include a salmon lunch prepared and served by the Wanapum. The roster of speakers is currently being compiled and will be available at the event. Topics will include Native American rights, the cultural heritage of the Columbia Basin and area geology carved by the Ice Age floods. Come for the full day — 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. — and enjoy hours fascinating discussion, crafts demonstrations and more. Archaeology Days is co-hosted by Grant PUD and the Wanapum Heritage Center. The event coincides with Washington State Archaeology Month.

Today was a great day for showing some market goats at Adams County Fair! Lots of blue ribbons for all of our students! We had Javier, Rafael, Cynthia,& Madi place top of their class and they were 4 of 7 competing in the championship round. Tomorrow is the Fit & show round!

September is National Suicide Prevention Month, and the District's Student Support Services Department will be hosting Care Day - Count on Me Day by wearing Turquoise or Purple on September 8th, 2022. The goal is to encourage EVERYONE, staff, students, and our community to wear turquoise or purple for this day to help raise awareness for #SuicidePrevention, care, and remind everyone of the importance of taking care of ourselves and one another.

The Technology Department will be hosting three make-up sessions this week for all Wahluke School District families who could not attend a session during Open House. Open House for all WSD Schools Today, August 22, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Each school is open for parents and students to ask questions, meet their teachers, and complete annual forms. The Technology Department will also have two Technology Parent Information Sessions at 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm that families will need for their students to receive their new technology for the school year. Sessions in each building are held in: MES: Gym MSE: The Hub SME: Library WJH: Library WHS: Commons Families only need to attend one session for all their students and can complete paperwork for all students simultaneously. We are looking forward to all of you joining us! ______________________ Jornada de puertas abiertas para todas las escuelas de WSD hoy, 22 de agosto, de 5:00 p. m. a 7:00 p. m. Wahluke Public School Employees Chapter held Lunch for all New Classified Staff to Introduce the Wahluke Chapter Union Executive Board, Provide Union Information, and enjoy a few Raffle Prizes. PSE Members enjoyed some delicious pizza. PES raffled gift cards for coffee at Sky's Coffee, Corvid Coffee, Subway, and a Grand Prize of $50 dollars on anything. Thank you to all New Classified Staff for your attending and all your questions. _______________ El Capítulo de Empleados de las Escuelas Públicas de Wahluke llevó a cabo un almuerzo para todo el personal clasificado nuevo para presentar la Junta Ejecutiva del Sindicato del Capítulo de Wahluke, brindar información sobre el Sindicato y disfrutar de algunos premios de rifa.
