1️⃣ ¿Cuánto tiempo ha estado en la educación y cuántos de esos años ha servido como director?
He trabajado en la educación por 20 años y he sido director desde el año escolar 2015–2016. Mi carrera comenzó como maestro de Artes del Lenguaje e Historia de 7.º grado, seguida de cargos como entrenador instruccional, subdirector de escuela secundaria y director de escuela primaria en Pasco. Actualmente estoy en mi tercer año como director en el Distrito Escolar de Wahluke.
2️⃣ ¿Qué es algo que desea que todos los estudiantes supieran?
Deseo que todos los estudiantes comprendan que el aprendizaje no siempre ocurre de inmediato; a veces llega con el tiempo, ¡y eso está bien! El hecho de no entender algo de inmediato no significa que no puedan hacerlo; llegará con tiempo y persistencia, así que no se rindan. También deseo que cada estudiante sepa cuánto nos importan y cuán comprometidos estamos con su éxito.
3️⃣ ¿Qué frase, dicho o consejo inspira su liderazgo?
Defino el liderazgo como ayudar a los demás a ser mejores. Dios te dio dos oídos y una boca por una razón; ¡úsalos sabiamente!
4️⃣ ¿Qué es lo que más le gusta de ser director?
Todo comienza y termina con las relaciones: las conexiones con los estudiantes, el personal, los padres y la comunidad que dan forma a nuestra escuela.
5️⃣ ¿Cuál es un dato curioso o pasatiempo fuera de la escuela que sus estudiantes o personal tal vez no sepan sobre usted?
Un dato curioso que muchos tal vez no sepan es que mi esposa y yo somos codirectores del programa recreativo Three Rivers Rec para niños de 5 a 10 años en las Tri-Cities. También formo parte de la junta escolar de una escuela en Minnesota.
Fuera del trabajo, disfrutamos enseñar y apoyar a los niños de diversas maneras. En lo personal, mi esposa y yo fuimos novios desde la preparatoria y tenemos tres hijos de 15, 17 y 21 años.
