WSD is bringing Southwest Food Service Excellence (SFE) to our campus, a culinary-based food service management company exclusively dedicated to K-12 nutrition. They are curating our summer meals and the district's nutrition services for the upcoming school year. 🍏 We are so excited to introduce them. 21st Century Summer program is on! And our students are learning to make tortillas in Cooking Class, planting flowers in Agriculture, creating and testing bridges in STEAM Robotics . 🤩🎉☀️😎 ¡El programa de verano del siglo XXI está en marcha! Congratulations, Ms. Elvia Greisen! Ms. Greisen was recognized for nearly 30 years of service to the Wahluke School District. She has had many roles in our district, such as school counselor, family engagement counselor, and coordinator for various programs. We are grateful and proud to have had Ms. Greisen take the lead in many roles throughout many years in our district and community. WSD offers our heartfelt congratulations to her in recognition of this service milestone. Her helping hand, positivity, and friendliness will surely be missed. But we know that we will see her around the community! Thank you for so many wonderful years of kindness and dedication to our students, community, and staff. Best wishes in your retirement. Hello! I hope you are all having a fantastic summer! Our counselors have been working hard on getting summer school up and running for those students who have failed one or more courses. All students who are required to participate should have received an email with their log in information. They are to begin working today. Students will be required to be in person at the high school on FRIDAYS from 3:00-5:00pm to check in with me, but must be working on their classes online every day. Today is an Early Release Day and the Last Day of School for the 22-23 school year. Our whole last week of the 2023-2024 school year was filled with a lot of fun activities across our campus, from spirit weeks, field trips, TK, Kinder, and 5th-grade graduations to Color Runs, Fire Truck - water day, to 5th grade House Sorting day we are happy to see our students and teachers making memories! The end of the school year is soon approaching! The Special Education Department and Garden Sustainability Team have dedicated an apple tree that WHS Student Daniel Cardoso and teacher Christine Lounsbury planted in the garden last year. Ms. Lounsbury shares the story about the dedication: "It started as a dead stick that looked like it should be put in the compost. Danny was willing to take a chance on it, and we planted it anyway. When it took off and started to become a full beautiful tree, Danny agreed that it was in his late father's honor and his dad was looking down from heaven, happy that Danny had the tree. Danny has lovingly cared for his tree every day ever since." WHS student Jose Lagunas created and built a plaque in Dad's honor ____________________ El Departamento de Educación Especial y el Equipo de Sostenibilidad del Jardín han dedicado un arbol de manza que el estudiante de WHS Daniel Cardoso y la maestra Christine Lounsbury plantaron en el jardín el año pasado.
