Wahluke School District would like to give our condolence to the Melvin family and give our respects to the late Deputy Sheriff Jon Melvin Deputy Melvin had served with the Grant County Sheriff's Office for 35 years. He was serving as a contract city deputy in the Desert Aire community in south Grant County, where he lived, before his death. He also served as our District Resource officer and a boating deputy for many years. WSD honors Deputy Sheriff Melvin's legacy of hard work and dedication. 🚌 Transportation Announcement Update: For September 16🚌 Starting Thursday, September 16, 2021 Bus Route 3 and route 4 will be going back to normal pick up times. Route 3 for roads 26 and U road. September is National Suicide Prevention Month. This year National Suicide Prevention week began on Sunday, September 5, and ends on Saturday, September 11. 🌟🟡🌟🟨🌟🟡🌟🟨🌟🟡🌟🟨 WSD will be honoring it here at Wahluke with Care Day on Thursday, September 9th, and other activities throughout the week. Each day will have different activities all students, and staff can participate in. This Week is a time to share resources and stories, as well as promote suicide prevention awareness by focusing on positive action. 🌟🟡🌟🟨🌟🟡🌟🟨🌟🟡🌟🟨🌟🟡🌟🟨 WSD encourages every staff, student, and to participate in everyday activities. Wahluke School District and our Transportation Department are committed and working to find creative ways to find a solution so that all our students receive transportation. For the time being, our short-term solution is to have students who live on the following roads and bus routes. Be picked up and dropped off at a later time. MORNING PICK UP: Students will need to be at their designated bus stop at 7:40 AM to allow enough time for bus drivers to pick them up. Students will arrive at school between 8:00 AM - 8:15 AM. BUS ROUTES: Route 3 (only on the roads listed on our website article) Route 4 Route 6 AFTERNOON DROP-OFF: Students in the bus routes and roads listed above will stay in their school building until about 3:50 PM and arrive home between 4:00 PM - 4:15 PM. School buildings will have snacks available for students waiting for the bus, and schools will have supervision available for them. School Buildings will be working with the 21st Century and other programs to have intervention opportunities during the wait time. WSD will follow this procedure until the end of September and will communicate any changes we have. We ask for your patience and help. We would greatly appreciate it if parents or guardians could help the district and transportation department drop off and pick up students to and from school. We understand that this is our short-term solution and can assure you that we are working with our transportation department to recruit bus drivers in our area.
